Yes, it appalls me how little of what is going on there reaches the mainstream American media. One has to be interested enough to search for it in the intellectual journals such as Middle East Policy, Journal of Palestine Studies, Foreign Affairs, AET, etc.
I know that on a daily basis I get wire service reports plus news from the Palestinian and Israeli POV papers via e-mail. But I'm connected to this. Most Americans unfortunately are more interested in OJ Simpson, the loonies who wanted to ride on a comet, and the start of the Baseball season and the NBA playoffs.
In the meantime AIPAC tells lazy congressman their version of things, and their staffs tell them how to vote based on "domestic political considerations".
Now that Bibi is the "unindicted co-conspirator", will it go away as far as people here are concerned, or does the fact that the issue was even raised have a life of it's own as to his ability to govern effectively? The parallels to Watergate are startling and just as sleazy. No one can tell me he DIDN'T KNOW. They can tell me they CAN'T PROVE IT, that I can understand, he'd cover his tracks as good as a mafia don, that's for sure.
I'm also amazed at the lack of grassroots protesting, from either the Arab American community or the left wing parts of the Jewish American community. It sure ain't the sixties. We didn't need much of a reason to hit the streets then. Same thing on the college campuses, no one seems to care about anything beyond themselves. It's like the 50's "silent generation".
I'm open to suggestions. I keep sending all sorts of stuff to people, but I'm one person.
Peace, Bill
