This parable of the good tenants and wicked landlords was
directed to the chief priests and elders. These people know more
than anybody about the different figures and symbol in the
Bible. they interpret the Bible to others and ask them to fellow
their instructions. They understand more than anybody the words
of Jesus. If you read their reaction - the reading of this
Sunday do not report it - it says on 21:45-46: "When the chief
priests and the Pharisees heard his parabole, they knew that he
was speaking about them. And although they were attempting to
arrest him, they feared the crowds, for they regarded him as a
prophet."
The story of God with the world is always the same. God is
love, generous, open. He wants to save the world, make from
earth a paradise for us. People will kill God's love, work
selfishly, close themselves on tribes, ethnic, groups and
religions. They will use the earth to be their own property and
make war to others. The key of this parable is that the people
who should be the leaders of the people are doing that and
mainly people are the victims of kings, Lords, presidents,
Congress, Bishops, Rabbis, Imams etc. But the warning will go to
all of them, to the landlords and to the people.
We are all at the end responsible in destroying the work of
God, who wants all the best for us. Our mission is the world, we
are called to make the best of it, but together holding God's
hand.
And when Jesus will say: "Therefore, I say to you, the
kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people
that will produce its fruits" Mt. 21:43; you will know that
Jesus was speaking of me and you. What did you do of my
vineyard?
How many time you felt that this opportunity was lost because
you have been wicked? How many times you experienced that you
could not continue this or that because God will never bless
your wrong doing?
In today mass remember that you are called to be faithful to
your beliefs. God do not accept people who change their minds
every time. You have been baptized and saved by Jesus love, you
better be a good disciple and landlord. he gave you a lot of
possibilities, a lot of opportunities, special talents to do
good and serve God and others. You cannot build happiness only
for yourself and yours. The world is your mission. You are
called to produce fruits of peace, justice, love and goodness.
You are called to take stand with what is fair, true and just.
The word will loose if you close yourself onto yourself. Your
mission is the world. |
